Review by Gregg E. Brickman

Takeover is Lisa Black’s first novel in her series featuring Cleveland forensic scientist Theresa MacLean.

Theresa MacLean is a pushy, confident, impulsive woman. When she learns that her police detective fiancé is a hostage in the takeover of the Federal Reserve Bank, she rushes to the scene. The hostage negotiator refuses to take Theresa’s advice, so she takes the initiative in an effort to save her future husband’s life.

Black used her forensic knowledge to her advantage in crafting her story. Forensics provides the backdrop to the story, but the real action is the character development and interaction.

I purchased the book for Kindle at a bargain price, intended, I presume, to entice new readers to the series. In my case, it worked. I recommend the book.
